Mitsubishi Unveils the XFC Concept

Mitsubishi Unveiled the XFX Concept at Newport Mall, Manila. Unlike a lot of concept cars, this one has a full interior with working displays and fully upholstered seats. It even has brakes and what seems like a suspension system. It looks like you could actually drive it off the display stand. The futuristic looking 5-seater crossover has 20 inch wheels which fill its muscular haunches quite nicely. It has cameras for side mirrors and illuminated faux exhaust tips

As it is a concept vehicle, there is no information regarding the powerplant but according to Mitsubishi, there will be a production model that’s based on the XFC and we might see it as soon as late this year. That’s something that we’ll definitely be looking forward to

Jetour Unveils the Off-road Focused, T3 SUV

Shanghai, China. Jetour unveils the T3, an off-road focused, 4x4, body on frame, hybrid SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show. It features a 2.0L turbocharged engine coupled to dual electric motors which send power to all four 22inch wheels. Currently we dont know the total power output or the battery capacity but Jetour did show-off the naked chassis of the T3 and the battery appears to be quite massive, as well as the dual electric motors. Total range in EV mode is 200Kms. The body sits on a steel ladder frame chassis. It has a robust double-wishbone suspension setup on all four corners. It also appears to have air suspension, at least from what i can tell visually ( there was no english spec sheet at the time of this writing) The T3 has a pretty innovative steering system which can rotate the wheels in different directions and allows it to achieve a very tight turning raduis or even to rotate in place -A useful feature in tight off road situations. Mazda Launches the CX60 in the Philippines

Many have touted Mazda as the BMW of Japan as both brands focus heavily on the driving experience. Mazda's vehicles tend to be more driver-focused than their Japanese mainstream competitors. But from a BMW driver’s point of view, there's one important thing that differentiates Mazda from BMW and other premiere German brands. Most BMWs are rear-wheel drive or rear biased AWD. Mazdas, with the exception of their dedicated sports cars, are front-wheel drive or heavily front biased all-wheel drive. That affects their driving dynamics as it’s hard to get them to oversteer under power. It also affects the balance of the car as most of the weight is at the front. That changes with Mazda's current generation of crossovers. Mazda just launched the CX60 in the Philippines, their first rear-wheel drive biased crossover with a longitudinally mounted inline 6 engine and near 50/50 weight distribution. Why do people lower their cars? This is a question often asked by non-car enthusiasts. “ To improve the car’s performance, so I can take corners flatter ” –this is the usual response. But what they really mean is. “ Who cares if I lose a tooth every time I hit a pothole at 60mph, I want my car to look good " I haven’t done a scientific survey but I'm pretty sure that 70% of the time, people lower their cars for looks. There are obvious trade-offs but the car will look sportier, long er and wider once it’s lowered. If you plan to upgrade to bigger wheels, lowering the car becomes essential as putting 17in or bigger wheels on a non-lowered car will give the car a “lifted” look.
